Precision Cabinet Door Mounting Without Solo Hand Strain

Hanging cabinet doors is one of the most frustrating tasks in custom cabinetry when working without an assistant. Balancing a heavy solid hardwood door panel with one hand while holding a hinge plate and driving screws into cabinet face frames almost always results in uneven reveals, dropped hardware, or scratched face frames.

The Kreg KHI-CDIJ Cabinet Door Mounting Jig solves this completely. Built from rigid glass-reinforced polycarbonate, the jig clamps securely to the bottom rail or stile of your cabinet box and provides a sturdy horizontal support arm that holds the door perfectly positioned at 90 degrees while you fasten the hinges.

Micro-Adjustment & Alignment Testing

In our shop, we tested this jig across a complete set of 12 custom face-frame shop cabinets with 3/4-inch birch doors:
- Dual precision indexing shims allow height adjustment in 1/8-inch increments up to 9 different positions.
- Compatible with both traditional face-frame cabinets and modern frameless Euro-style boxes.
- Works equally well for left-hand and right-hand door swings simply by flipping the indexing arm.

Mechanical Observations & Flaws:
- The plastic thumbscrew clamp pad works well, but overtorquing can flex the plastic support bracket; snug it firmly without over-tightening.
- Requires at least 2 inches of clearance beneath the cabinet bottom rail for standard clamp placement.
