Under sustained shop grinding or sheet metal cutting, compact packs hit thermal cutoff or low-voltage sag in fewer than ten minutes of trigger time.
This upgraded 3700mAh pack utilizes high-drain 18650 lithium-ion cells configured to deliver sustained 3.7Ah capacity. In our shop bench testing, the pack substantially flattened the voltage sag curve when powering the 2486-20 die grinder under heavy deburring passes on 1/4-inch steel plate. Motor RPM held consistent through the entire duty cycle without the premature thermal tripping typical of smaller packs.
Desktop Charger Performance & Field Notes
The included desktop docking charger provides reliable CC/CV charging with automatic trickle cutoff once top-of-charge voltage is reached. It maintains cool casing temperatures and recharges the 3.7Ah pack from zero in approximately 55 minutes.
Mechanical Observations & Flaws:
- The ABS outer casing is marginally stiffer than OEM Milwaukee glass-filled nylon.
- Latch release tabs require a firm inward squeeze to unseat from tight tool cavities like the M12 right-angle impact.
- For high-vibration rotary tools, the wider base provides a stable upright resting footing on the workbench.
