Small gas-powered garden tillers and mini-cultivators are notorious maintenance headaches: fouled spark plugs, gummed 2-cycle carburetors from ethanol gas, and tangled pull-cords. This cordless cultivator attachment connects directly to standard DeWalt 20V Max battery packs, delivering an immediate electric solution for raised garden beds, foundation borders, and shop perimeter trenching.
The tool uses a high-torque planetary reduction gearbox driving four hardened steel four-tine wheels at 360 RPM across a 9-inch wide path. In our testing on compacted Central Texas soil and compost-rich garden beds, the tines easily penetrated 6 to 7 inches deep, chewing through hard-packed dirt, breaking clods, and incorporating organic soil amendments smoothly.
Battery Selection & Power Draw
Because soil tilling creates heavy continuous resistance, battery selection is critical:

- High continuous drag causes the lower aluminum gearbox housing to heat up noticeably after 20 minutes of continuous digging.
- Fibrous weeds and vine roots will wrap around the central tine axle; keep a pair of diagonal cutters nearby to slice away wrapped vegetation between rows.
