Makera Carvera Air
The Carvera Air makes small CNC work easier to approach with an enclosure, probing, and quick manual tool changes. Two original reviewers produced useful parts, but their metalworking results and software experiences deserve a careful read. This is the Air model; its quick-change mechanism differs from the original Carvera’s automatic tool changer.

Original campaign funding period: April 9 to May 10, 2024. Two original reviewers subsequently milled with the Carvera Air; reviews do not establish fulfillment of every pledge.
What the follow-up reviews show
- Reported experience. Hackster’s Cameron Coward successfully milled PCB, plastic, and wood projects. Aluminum was harder: his follow-up reported improved dimensions after extensive tuning, while still requiring light cuts and slow machining. Source 2
- Reported experience. The Gadgeteer’s Joe Porletto completed a mixed-material LED project and rotary carving. He found the instructions confusing, needed slow aluminum feeds, and could not activate his optional laser module; support offered a replacement. Source 3
- Reported experience. Both reviews describe external extraction or air equipment as part of the workflow. Coward also disliked the beta CAM software and used Fusion; Porletto found the learning curve significant. These are dated software experiences. Source 2 Source 3
- What it means. Its strongest demonstrated fit is patient prototyping and small creative parts. Validate the intended alloy, finish, tolerance, and complete cycle time on a representative part before planning regular metal production. Source 2 Source 3
Research synthesis. Jerry has not supplied ownership or firsthand tests. The Gadgeteer says Makera supplied its unit at no charge. Hackster includes a June 19, 2025 correction; current firmware/CAM may differ. Two tests are not a reliability survey.
