The Straight-Shooter Take
Lugging an 8-pound 7-1/4" circular saw across a 4x8 sheet of 3/4" Baltic birch plywood gets old real fast. The Atomic DCS571B is elongated like an angle grinder with an auxiliary handle, giving you surgical, one-handed control over long straight edge rips.
It spins a 4-1/2" 24-tooth carbide blade that cuts up to 1-9/16" at 90 degrees, meaning it slices right through 2x4 framing lumber in a single clean pass.
Where It Earns Its Keep
- Elongated Inline Grip: Your wrist stays in a natural neutral position instead of being cocked sideways like standard top-handle circular saws.
- Bevel Gear Drive: Packs surprising torque into a skinny motor housing that doesnt bog down in damp sheet stock.
- Included Dust Port Adaptor: Hooks directly up to 1-1/4" and 1-7/8" vac hoses for zero airborne sawdust inside the shop.
The Annoyance
- Blade selection in 4-1/2" (with 3/8" arbor) is limited at big box stores compared to standard 7-1/4" blades. Buy a 2-pack of Diablo ultra-finish blades online ahead of time.
